Making this post most especially for my hilarious and talented IRL friend who is subjecting herself to the horrifying experience of reading this journal! Cis-decalin...I hope you come out of this alive. I said I was 14 when I wrote most of this, but no, I was 16. I think I was just in denial. Unexpurgated for friendship and your dubious reading pleasure!

Anyway, my bookmarks folder is FULL of X-Men stuff right now, so I will probably run up a recs post in a few days. YES, THERE IS MORE. MORE THAT YOU HAVE NOT YET READ. Other than that I am reading Homestuck and I don't know anyone else who is, nor whether you should be. Seriously, between that and the horrible Marvel continuity (Xorneto!) the Aeneid is a blessed, blessed relief. Doomed love without 50 years of retcons, I'm in clover! There will also be a "best of Youtube" post with music, because yes, I am also that lazy. I may even actually make that terrible Professor X/Magneto FST and put it on 8tracks. My life is currently made up of learning Arabic, reading the Aeneid slooowly, and attempting to get through this one article on the camel in Roman North Africa printed in what I swear is 7 point type. No explosions, not even feeble ones. On the other hand, did find out about the time the inhabitants of Hadrumetum (Tunisia) pelted their proconsul Vespasian with turnips, exasperated at his meanness. Rupert Murdoch should be so lucky!

You return! Good to hear from you again, even though we've not talked much.

I agree with you re. Homestuck. I've kept reading it out of fascination with the multimedia storytelling method, mostly; at this point I could take or leave much of the story itself. (Such as it is.)

How's learning Arabic? I keep hearing it's a nightmare of a language to pick up for a non-native speaker, particularly since apparently most words are entirely different in their singular and plural forms, if I understand correctly?

Hi! It's great to hear from you; I've been (silently) enjoying your posts very much.

The plot has just become too convoluted to really get invested in, I find - I enjoy the style and the storytelling technique a lot, but I almost feel as though the serial format just makes it too exhausting to keep up. And, yes, the "Tavros can't walk" jokes and "Sollux is bipolar, which means he has two dream selves" are just the icing on the cake...but I can't quit it! Also, its creator seems genuinely convinced he's creating a masterwork, which is a little offputting.

STILL WORKING ON...THE ALPHABET. I have never spoken a living language (apart from English, obvs) fluently before, and I don't have a good ear for pronunciation. I'll put updates once I get to the grammar (66 pages of my textbook are devoted to just being able to read and write the letter; I'm 15 pages in and still drilling myself.) Do you speak any second languages?

...what the crap. I could have sworn I put her on that list. o_O Like, seriously, tell her it is a mistake--it's a limited filter, yes, but the filter is like...people I'm out to >>;;

I still haven't read your journal you know. If only you wrote it in terms of an Erik/Charles AU... Anyway, HAD SO MUCH FUN LAST WEEK and am having curious feelings about that Dramione fic you mentioned.
